About
About TAGCarts
A veteran-owned company on a mission to redesign the medical cart around the nurse, founded in Sacramento in 2019.
Why we started
Today’s hospital cart ecosystem is broken and out of date, and it costs everyone in healthcare: patients, nurses and hospitals. Technology meant to improve care has filled rooms with plugs, cords, batteries and on-cart “fuel gauges” that distract nurses and physicians. Carts still work, but their designs are decades old.
Like the rest of our lives, healthcare’s need for power grows every day. TAGCarts’ designs give reliable, abundant, mobile power, and do away with piles of swappable batteries, dirty cords and outlets, and the time nurses spend monitoring, managing and maintaining them.
Our clinical advisory board of healthcare professionals guides every design. Our brand promise is workflow-centric, design-driven and built for the modern healthcare team.

Our story
From cart reseller to cart innovator
Founder Taggart (Tagg) Neal has worked with medical carts and workstations since 2003, first as a territory manager and, from 2008, as founder of the cart reseller American River Medical. In 2019 he founded TAGCarts in Sacramento after graduating from the Founder Institute accelerator.
TAGCarts’ evidence-based design overhaul started with the cart itself and led to the wall: the first one-step docking and charging ecosystem built into the guards and handrails already in every hospital. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office awarded our first utility patent in February 2021, and a second has followed.
In 2020 we paused to build HEROCarts for the pandemic. In 2024 the TAG-X Smart Rail, made with Inpro, won the Silver Nightingale Innovation Award at the Healthcare Design Expo. In 2026 CenterPointe Hospital of Columbia, Missouri, became the first complete Wireless Environment of Care in inpatient behavioral health.
